 About Author Joseph Murphy 

On May 20, 1898, Joseph Murphy was born in Ballydehob, Ireland. He was raised as a Roman Catholic and eventually joined the Jesuits. Joseph Murphy is a Devine Science and Religious Science minister. Murphy travelled to India and spent a significant amount of time studying Hindu philosophy with Indian sages. He established a new Hindu church in America.After receiving his PhD in psychology from the University of Southern California, he began writing. Dr. Murphy has spent a significant portion of his life studying eastern religions.

He was an I Ching (Chinese book of divination) scholar. For 28 years, Joseph served as a minister at the Church of Divine Science's Los Angeles branch. He believed he had discovered secrets about the subconscious that transcended time and culture. He died on December 16, 1981, as a result of health problems.
